Write to me when delivery has stopped moving and you already suspect the cause is not the tooling. That is the conversation I am useful in: teams of roughly 10 to 150 engineers, a CTO, VP of Engineering or Engineering Manager who can already feel the constraint but cannot yet name it.

You get one of two answers, usually within two working days, and I write them myself. Either I tell you what I think the bottleneck is and how I would go about confirming it, or I tell you this is not something I can help with and, where I can, who would be better placed. There is nothing to unsubscribe from afterwards.

Book a 30-min diagnostic call

Free. No pitch. You'll leave with at least one named bottleneck.

The calendar is hosted by calendly.com and is loaded only when you ask for it. Nothing is sent anywhere until you pick a slot. Open the calendar in a new tab instead.

or write it down instead

If a call is the wrong shape right now, five answers get you the same reply. I read every one of these myself.

I reply from this address myself. It goes on no mailing list.

Engineers you are responsible for, roughly.

What is happening, and what you have already tried. A sentence is enough.

All five answers are required. Your answers go to me and nowhere else.

Not ready to talk to anyone yet?

That is the normal case, and it is a perfectly good reason not to fill anything in. Read what I have written about where engineering organisations actually lose time, and come back when one of them describes your week.

what happens after you send this

What actually happens on the 30-minute call?

You describe what is happening, I ask questions, and we spend the last ten minutes on what I think the constraint is and how I would confirm it. There is no deck, nothing to prepare, and no follow-up sequence. If an engagement makes sense I will say so once, at the end.

I am not sure what my problem is. Is it too early to write?

No. Not being able to name it is the most common reason people get in touch, and naming it is the first thing any engagement does anyway. Describe the symptom you can see, for example that estimates are met and delivery still slips, and that is enough to start from.

What happens to what I send you?

It reaches me and nobody else. Your answers are stored on this site, you are not added to any mailing list, and there is no sequence to unsubscribe from. Ask me to delete the message and I will.

I want to sell you something, or hire you as an employee. Is this the right form?

No, and using it will only slow both of us down. This form goes to the same place as a client enquiry and gets read as one. Recruiters and vendors are better off writing to me on LinkedIn.

When could an engagement actually start?

Currently booking new engagements. Typically 2 to 3 clients at a time. A diagnostic call is usually available inside a fortnight, whatever the engagement queue looks like.

Not sure which problem you have? That's usually the first finding.

Free. No pitch. You'll leave with at least one named bottleneck.
